PageRank is a trademarked term used by Google to mean whatever they want it to mean. It does NOT mean, “How well your page ranks in Google’s search engine.”
Google’s definition as I understand it is as follows: The likelihood that a particular page will be found by following links from other websites. It has nothing to do with keywords search or how your page ranks for any keywords.
The value of PageRank is that you can pass keyword ranking value from your page to another page on another website. The PageRank value is distributed evenly to all links on your page, whether they have the no-follow attribute or not. To maximize the value of link juice given by Google to any one outbound link on your page, you should use fewer links.
